Activities for Singles Who Are Hoping to Meet New People and Find the Right Match
Some creative ideas for finding the right match, especially if you're tired of the bar and club scene.
Are you a single looking for your match, but you're tired of parties, clubs and bars? Even though you may be tired of parties, clubs and similar locales, you probably still want to stay on the scene. Don't despair; there are alternatives. Perhaps taking the time to consider your interests will set you on the right path.
Here are some suggested locations for meeting other singles sharing similar interests:
Religious Institutions
Churches, synagogues or other such institutions may not come immediately to mind when you think of a new place to find singles, but you may be able to find somebody who shares a similar or values. Some churches provide social events like fundraisers for different causes or other outside events. You may want to try joining a faith-based group that's an extension of your faith's organization. Some even try to provide specific clubs or social opportunities for singles
Bookstores
Cruising the shelves at your local bookstore may land you more than just an interesting book. Many bookstores have become more than bookstores. They're part bookstore, part music store and part café, allowing multiple opportunities to strike up a conversation with someone new. If you strike up an interesting conversation in the fiction section you can finish it over coffee in the café. If your bookstore isn't a hybrid, there are still opportunities to meet other singles. Consider attending book readings, book signings or even book clubs. All of these opportunities provide the chance to meet someone new.
Coffee House/Café
Coffee houses provide an intimate setting where one may meet somebody new. Since practically everybody has some form of a caffeine addiction, there are a variety of people who swing by coffee houses. You may have noticed a number of people reading books, newspapers, working on their laptops or even paying bills. Consider initiating a conversation to the person standing next to you in line or sitting at the next table the next you go to pick up of your mocha chaca latte whatever.
These are just a few ideas that may help you find your match. Consider your interests, then go out and find a venue for it. By doing something you're interested in, you may find people with similar interests. Since you'll already have a common interest to talk about, you may not have to use that cheesy pick-up line.
