Fun and Unique Dates for Couples

Finding yourself in a relationship rut can be frustrating. A little creativity may be just what you and your partner need to get things moving again.

After months or years of dating, some couples find themselves in a rut' cooking dinners at home and renting movies every weekend. To ensure a relationship remains vibrant and lively, both people partners should make an effort to bring a change. Consider creative and fun dating activities you can do together.

Long gone are the days of 'getting to know one another,' so dates that require a Q and A session are not necessary. When a relationship has lasted beyond a couple of months, getting quirky and creative on dates is imperative. Here are some ideas for making things interesting:

-Try a new sport: go bowling! Can't break one hundred? Have fun with a little competition and share a good laugh at how many times you can throw a ten pound ball into the gutter. Not into bowling? Try golf, tennis, rock climbing or basketball, just to name a few. The key is to pick something new the two of you can enjoy together.

-Take turns planning your surprise dates. This gives each person in the relationship the opportunity to select a fun, inventive and new activity for the two of you to partake in. A person may pack a picnic, sneak his or her significant other off to a hot springs resort, play tourist in a neighboring town, bake a sweet treat or take his or her partner out to a long-awaited play, concert or performance. Take advantage of your creative side and what your local community has to offer for new and creative date ideas.

-Become a part of something bigger in your community. Rolling up your sleeves together and getting involved is a great way to try something new and to develop stronger bonds between the two of you. Volunteer in a soup kitchen, call for donations for medical research or work with children (like in a Big Brothers/Big Sisters type of organization). Making a difference in the community together is a wonderful experience for you to share.

As long as the two of you are spending time together and trying out new things, keeping a long-term relationship fun, fresh and new should be do-able.
