How to Know if You've Found the Right Match
Dating and knowing if you found the right match can be difficult when you are unsure of your compatibility. Contrary to what people think, it's not about how much you have in common.
Sometimes it's difficult to know if you have found your ideal match. Oftentimes physical attractions can be blinding, making it difficult to really evaluate a person. To figure out if a person is a compatible and worthwhile match, evaluate them as a whole. Most importantly, consider how that person makes you feel.
To oversimplify, a good match should meet three simple criteria. The person must be a good communicator, must be attractive to you and, most importantly, must make you feel great. Do not be with someone who simply fills a void.
Pursuing someone solely for their physical appearance may lead to disappointment. Communication is key. If you can share a sense of humor or passion about a subject and converse with one another, then you have a good connection. Share your beliefs with the other person and if there is conflict, consider what consequences this may have. For example, if you have a strong religious belief and your partner disagrees, it may lead to problems when you two become more serious. Open communication is the best defense against such conflicts.
If you are not attracted to the person, however, do not force it. You must find the person attractive, no matter what anyone else's opinion is. If you are not attracted, then you should pursue them as friends and nothing more. Still, do not be hasty. Sometimes coming to understand one's personality will make them more attractive to you.
And lastly, you must evaluate with clarity and objectivity exactly how this person makes you feel. Do you feel loved or neglected? Do you feel that you are settling for less? Do they try to make you jealous? A good match is someone who believes in you and makes you feel good about yourself. They challenge you and genuinely want you to reach your full potential. When you have someone who makes you feel incredible and connects with you on several levels, you have probably found a perfect match.
