Tips for Keeping the Romance Alive with Long Distance Dating
Having a long distance relationship may be difficult, especially when you run out of ways to be romantic. This article offers some ideas to help bring romance back into long distance dating.
When you're miles apart from your significant other, you may find it increasingly difficult to keep the romance alive in your relationship, especially as the time apart increases. Romance is about more than physical passion. Sometimes romance is simply showing each other how much you really care.
The following ideas may help reignite some of the romance.
Send Something in the Mail
You may want to send something to your significant other. It can be a care package with some of his or her favorite things, a postcard or even a letter. Anything to remind your significant other that he or she is on your mind can work. Just seeing your handwriting may help your significant other feel closer to you. Emails are an easy way to keep in touch, but they're not as personal as something handwritten.
Watch a Movie Together
If your phone calls are getting dull, you may want to each rent the same movie. Watching the same movie over the phone may not be the same as watching it at the same place, but it may help you two feel closer together. It may also make those long pauses of silence feel less awkward since both of you will be into the movie. It may also provide both of you with something to talk about after the move is over, thus, eliminating some of the awkward silences. If you want the mood to be very romantic, you may want to pick a romantic comedy or even a classic romantic movie.
Find Time to Meet Together
Although you may not be able to spend every day together, you may want to try to find a time when you and your significant can meet. You may meet for a few hours or go away for a romantic weekend. Being able to actually see your significant other may remind you why you're trying to make this relationship work. It may also alleviate some of the stress. One of the hardest aspects about having a long distance is the lack of physical intimacy. By meeting, you'll able to enjoy the hugs and the kisses you've been missing, even if only for a short while.
